On our RV trip across the West Coast, we made several stops while RVing Wyoming. Our second stop in Wyoming was outside of the cute little western town of Dubois. The Park’s name was the Longhorn Ranch Lodge and RV Resort.
RVing Wyoming- Can Big Rig RVs Camp at Longhorn Ranch?
Yes, the sites are long, wide, and spacious and have plenty of room for large RVs.
We travel in a 45-foot Class A RV towing an SUV. Not all RV Parks can accommodate Big Rigs like ours. Our stories about the parks we have visited will be about those that can handle larger RVs.
RVing Wyoming- What Are The RV Sites Like?
This was one of our favorite campgrounds right outside the town of Dubois (Dew-Boyz) Wyoming at the foot of the Painted Hills. The sites were gravel but quite level and there were plenty of well-trimmed shade trees. Our site backed the Wind River. You can choose full hookup to no hookup RV sites.

RVing Wyoming- Can Big Rigs Camp At Longhorn Ranch?
Yes, the sites are plenty long enough for large RVs. They stagger the campsites so there is plenty of room in between them.
Is Internet Access Available At The RV Park?
Since internet access is so important to all of us these days, we decided to include our experience in using the parks’ internet (if provided) and which services worked best between the top 3 carriers.
- RV Park Provided Internet– worked ok, but not really for streaming.
- Verizon- Worked well, plenty of signal for email and streaming.
- AT&T– Worked well, plenty of signal for email and streaming.
- T-Mobile/Sprint– Worked well, plenty of signal for email and streaming.
What Amenities Are At The Longhorn Ranch Lodge and RV Resort?
The Park has a cute store selling souvenirs and necessities, a dog exercise area, laundry, a propane filling station, and even horse corrals. You can book a horseback trail ride through the office.
The park is located right on the Wind River. There are fishing, rafting, and other water sports activities.
How Difficult Is It To Get Into the RV Park?
The Park is located on the very well-maintained Highway 26. It’s an easy turn into the park with plenty of room for big rigs.
RVing Wyoming- What Is There To Do Near The Park?
There are lots of outdoor activities near the park including flyfishing, birdwatching, river floats and great driving tours through the Painted Hills and the small western town of Dubois just 3 miles away.

What Is the Closest Town to The Longhorn Ranch Lodge and RV Resort?
The closest town is Dubois which is 3 miles away. There are a few restaurants and a small grocery/liquor store.
RVing Wyoming- Are There Luxury RV Resorts in Wyoming?
We didn’t find any true luxury RV resorts in Wyoming. There are several listed in RV Trip Wizard that have nice amenities but you must book well in advance.

Is Wyoming RV Friendly? Yes, we found Wyoming to be very RV friendly. There are many parks that can handle large RVs.
Is Boondocking legal in Wyoming? Yes, the National Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management both list sites where you can RV for free. This is also called dispersed camping and it means you can camp for free unless otherwise posted, but the will be no electricity or water hookups.
Is it difficult to drive an RV in Yellowstone? You can drive an RV up to 40 feet long in certain parts of Yellowstone, but you must check first to see which routes can handle large RVs. The best size RV for Yellowstone is 25 feet.
