On our recent East Coast RV trip, we decided to visit the Blue Ridge Mountains and a North Carolina RV Resort. We investigated the different parks that could fit our Class A Newmar motorcoach. That’s when we discovered Mountain Falls Luxury Motorcoach Resort in North Carolina.
After doing research about this first-class motorcoach resort, we decided we had to see it for ourselves and reserved a site on the Ridge at Mountain Falls Luxury Motorcoach Resort.
North Carolina RV Resort- Mountain Falls Is A Class A Only Luxury RV Resort
The first thing our readers need to know is that this is a Class A only RV Resort and your RV must be 26 feet or bigger. They can accommodate very large big rigs and all lots include full hookups.
All sites have concrete pads and are level and incredibly well-manicured. Due to the elevation and the meticulous attention to detail by the resort staff, the flowers were blooming during our recent visit in July.
The RV lots are large as you would expect they need to be to accommodate Big Rigs and range between 3,500-5,000 square feet. Some lots offer optional enhancements including patios and even coach cottages.
Where Is Mountain Falls Motorcoach Resort?
Mountain Falls is located near Lake Toxaway in the Western North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains. This Class A only luxury RV resort promised spectacular views, luxury amenities, and first-class service… and they don’t disappoint!
The resort is located in the Great Smoky Mountains range in the Blue Ridge Province of the Appalachian Mountains. You are only a few miles from the Eastern Continental Divide.

What Is The Elevation At Mountain Falls?
The elevation at Mountain Falls is over 3,200 feet, so the views of the Smoky Mountains are spectacular!
Why Are They Called The Smoky Mountains?
The mountain range is called “Smoky” because of the natural fog that hangs over the range and looks like large smoke plumes from a distance. It’s actually caused by the vegetation that has a high vapor pressure.
The Weather At Mountain Falls
We were pleased to learn that even when there is an 80% chance of rain in Lake Towaway, it may rain sometime during the day, but not all day!
The mountains provide many microclimates, so it might be foggy on the Ridge, partly cloudy in the Valley, and be clear blue skies just minutes from the resort!
Mountain Falls has An Interesting History
In the early to mid-1900s, the Singer Sewing Machine Company owned the land and harvested timber to manufacture its sewing machine cabinets. The steep topography and moderate rain made this a perfect site for Duke Power, who purchased the land for the Keowee-Towaway hydroelectric plant they were building.
Marathon Coach (a Prevost converter) then purchased the land in 2000 and designed the first mountain Luxury Motorcoach Resort. Another tagline that is used for this incredible resort is the Summit of Luxury and this resort was designed for the luxury RV lifestyle. Some of the original owners still own lots there today!
The Ridge and The Valley Sites
Renters and owners have 2 choices in Mountain Falls, the Ridge sites, or the Valley sites.
The Ridge sites are located on 22 acres at the top of the resort. All 86 sites have spectacular views of the Smoky Mountains and allow you to build Coach Cottages. The concept behind Coach Cottages is that they are an extension of your coach. They can only have a footprint of 400 square feet, but can be as tall as 20 feet with multiple floors!
The 144 Valley sites don’t have views of the mountains, but they are very luxurious and have full use of all of the wonderful resort amenities. Outdoor kitchens and patios can be built on these sites, but not Coach Cottages.
Is Mountain Falls Open Year-round?
Yes, the resort is now open year-round. You can experience four beautiful seasons in this luxury resort while being pampered in style!
What’s The Drive Like To Reach Mountain Falls?
You take US-64 whether you are coming from the North or the South to reach Mountain Falls. This route used to be difficult for Big Rigs, but the road has been greatly improved since 2019. The state completed major roadwork to remove many of the switchbacks and straighten and widen the road where possible.
We had no issues reaching Mountain Falls in our 43’ Class A Motorcoach towing an SUV.
Do They Respect Social Distancing At Mountain Falls?
Yes, they do respect social distancing. When we checked into Mountain Falls, we were greeted by a friendly masked staff member who provided a complete package of information and a complimentary bottle of wine! What a great way to welcome guests!
The welcome package includes a complete list of area events, local restaurants, golf courses, and shopping and outdoor activities. They also provide a list of local services like RV Washing and Detailing, RV repairs, and even lists of veterinarians and mobile dog groomers!
Exceptional Service and A Concierge Available
We were also pleased to find itineraries with suggestions for a week or month-long stay and a list of waterfalls and with the distance to each from the resort. If you don’t find what you need, there is even a concierge available to assist you!
How Many Lots Are There In Mountain Falls?
This mountain sanctuary has 230 sites, 86 on the Ridge and 144 in the Valley.
