On our recent East Coast RV trip, we ran into some bad weather. Our original plans had us staying at a Harvest Host golf course, but the flash flood warning in the area changed things pretty quickly.
The Harvest Host destination told us that their parking lot was next to a river and had five feet of water in it during the last flash flood warning! Time to make a change in plans!
We were already on the road and had been for several hours, but with so much rain we couldn’t find a place that we could stop overnight. That was when Mike remembered that casinos often allow RVs to park in their lots overnight. We happened to be in the Pocono Mountains and there is a Mohegan Sun Casino located there.
Casinos Offer Easy Access
Many casinos are located in areas that are easily accessed by RVs. Most have very large parking lots and are close to major roads.
Casinos Are Following Social Distancing
Contact The Casino
The first thing you have to do is to call the casino and ask if they allow overnight RV Parking and if there are any special instructions. Also ask if you are allowed to use your jacks or put out slides. Some casinos will let you stay for more than one day if you are gambling and eating in their restaurants.
Mohegan Sun Pocono
We were lucky that the Mohegan Sun Pocono does allow RV parking and directed us to the back lot.
Casino Parking Is Very Secure
One of the advantages to parking your RV at a casino overnight is the security. When we arrived and called the casino to speak with security, they instructed us exactly where to park. With closely monitored cameras throughout the casino parking lot, we were not concerned about leaving our RV to go into the casino or sleep at night.
Casinos Have A Lot To Offer RVers
With restaurants, shops and entertainment casinos are a great stopover when you need a place to overnight in your RV. Plus you might get lucky and win enough to pay for your trip!
